Somewhere Between...

Cried real tears like I haven't cried in awhile as I sat through this movie today. Didn't want it to end though.  I found it highly insightful, and has me thinking. What exactly though, I don't know.  It was worth the two hour drive to Seattle to see it, and I think I will definitely buy the video when it comes out. Someday I will sit down and watch it with the girls, but it's not time yet....

Off with a Bang....

This morning started with a bang, not because it was my birthday, but because we had an abnormal start to a fall day with a thunderstorm! I enjoyed not having to get up early and being able to lay in bed listening to the rumbles. Even better yet, I enjoyed being served coffee and a delicious white chocolate raspberry scone in bed while listening to the storm.

After the 9 am soccer games were cancelled due to the inclement weather, the skies made a quick change to sunshine, where the whole family gathered in the sunshine to watch Jaelyn's soccer game. I then got to open presents at home, before everyone scooted off in different directions.

After I was spoiled, Kaia took off for a birthday slumber party, Josh headed off for the Homecoming Dance, and Kellen, Jaelyn, Mike and I headed out to eat for a delicious Italian dinner with gelato for dessert.

Oh October!

There just isn't enough free time in October for me to post all that goes on around here! I am going to attempt to catch everyone up to speed with what we have been doing in two posts, so here is the first one. For the most part I will let the photos speak for themselves!

Soccer season has one week left, and the Pink Pop Rocks have really improved. Here they are a coupe weeks ago, when they all sprayed their hair pink...

Jaelyn scored four or five goals just today alone! I still love watching her play, as no matter what, she is running down the field with a big ole' grin on her face.

Mike's birthday was about 1.5 weeks ago, and the whole family was having fun celebrating together.

Next up, my volleyball team's Dig Pink night. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One of my team members mother was recently diagnosed with it, so we decided to show our support by having a pink night. We even topped it off with a win!

Still Here....

I know, it has been awhile since I have posted, but I have good reason. Besides it being volleyball, football, gymnastics and soccer season around here, we have temporarily added to our family! We are providing respite care for a sweet foster child of some dear friends of ours, as they had to go out of state. This added another soccer game and two practices to our already busy week, leaving not much time for the computer. I am really glad we were able to help out; the computer time was worth sacrificing! She has almost another two weeks with us, and even shares a birthday this week with Mike.  Here the three girls are cheering for the Wildcats at last night's football game...

After the game Mike and Josh drove seven hours so that Josh could attend the Fall Preview Day at Washington State University.  Heard it was a great experience, but I know they are both exhausted and looking forward to coming home tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing more details when they get back, as I mostly got one word answers and grunts, but for now all I know is that this could be Josh's home for the next 6.5 years....

CHEESE!!

We were surprised to learn last week that Kaia was getting braces this week! She had been wearing an appliance on the roof of her mouth (I'll save you the photos, but it spreads the top teeth apart), and we thought she would be wearing it until her surgery, but I think the fact that she broke it twice in five weeks made the orthodontist go to plan B! Also, her cross bite was grinding down the crooked tooth that is growing sideways in her cleft, which we want to save, so he decided to change course to save that tooth from getting ruined. Thus the braces to start turning that tooth, which is coming in sideways. It has to happen slowly though, as there is no bone for it to turn into before the surgery, so it has to be perfect timing. Like the eye patch she wore earlier last year, the braces are still a novelty that I'm afraid may wear off. But for now I'll enjoy her smile...CHEESE!

Climbing Course Two...

If you read my blog regularly you will remember Josh and I rock climbing back in August. I had also posted earlier about earning a free class due to a no-show by the instructor. Well today Josh, Mike, and I cashed in on that free class and took the Level II Rock Climbing Class.  This time there were only five of us in the class, as opposed to 13 the first time, so we got more practice in. We learned more technical skills, how to be a lead climber and use more specific climbing tools, and we also made more difficult climbs. I am definitely going to be sore tomorrow, but let's just say I was not outdone by any male in my family! I felt like the tortoise of the group; I wasn't the fastest up and down, but I got the job done!  The climb was again on Mt. Erie, but at a different set of rocks. It was another gorgeous day with a gorgeous view.  Thanks Kellen for watching your sisters while we played:)
